Systems that made recommendations a year ago are starting to make decisions. They drive vehicles, route freight, inspect infrastructure, and move through public space. Nearly all of them learn the physical world from simulations because nobody had recorded the real one.

Nexar and Nauto, both founded in 2015, spent eleven years each recording how roads and drivers behave at real speed in real conditions. In 2026 those records became one, held by a company that competes with none of the systems it measures.

A simulation can produce a plausible road. What it cannot produce is the intersection where the lane markings wore off in April and nobody repainted them, or the driver who made a judgment call no model would have predicted. The change between a plausible world and the real one is where these systems fail, and a better model does not solve it.

With over a decade of recorded road and driving history, there is no way to buy this and no way to generate it. Rare events arrive at the rate the world produces them, and no amount of compute shortens the years it took to collect them.
ProvenIt shows up in the work. Empiric Earth safety models have supported a 50 to 80% reduction in collision loss across enterprise fleet deployments, and one national fleet saw its most severe collisions fall by 67%.
LiveThe record is current rather than archival. We can see what changed on a corridor this month and go and get whatever a customer is missing.
It is not a policy anyone has to trust us on. Independence is the easy half. The harder half is what we refuse to build.
Empiric Earth builds no vehicles and none of the autonomy or driver assistance systems we measure, so we never compete with our own customers. An automaker, a fleet, a public agency, and an insurer can all rely on the same record, and none of them has to ask whose side it is on.
We will not build license plate recognition, face recognition, or person-level search, and we will not sell personal data. Every one of those is commercially valuable, none of them is technically hard, and refusing them forecloses real revenue. That is the only thing that makes a refusal worth publishing.
