NEW YORK, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Nexar and Nauto are now Empiric Earth. The two companies, both founded in 2015, have combined and now operate under a single name as of today.
Empiric Earth holds an open record of how the physical world behaves, built on more than 10 billion miles of observed driving and 60 million edge cases across 98% of US roads and 50 or more countries. More than 350,000 connected sensors add over 300 million new miles every month, so a change on a road this month can be measured against a decade of history on it.
The record is built from the moments where risk builds, most of them near misses that never became collisions, measured alongside the collisions that did. That is what makes prediction possible. Empiric Earth safety models have supported a 50 to 80% reduction in collision loss across enterprise fleets, and one national fleet saw its most severe collisions fall by 67%.
Developers, automakers, fleets, insurers and public agencies use the record to answer questions their own data leaves open, because it holds what happened on the road and what happened in the vehicle at the same moment. Empiric Earth does not build vehicles, does not build the autonomy or driver assistance stacks it measures, and competes with none of the systems it measures.
That independence is why the same models can be available to all of them. Empiric Earth has no stake in which operator wins, so the strongest safety models have no reason to sit inside one company's stack. Most of the people who benefit when they do not will never be anyone's customer. They are driving on the same roads.
